New Zealand Olive Festival 2012 postponed
New Zealand Olive Festival 2012 postponed
Geoff Crawford, Chair of the New Zealand Olive Festival organising committee has announced today that the planed 2012 New Zealand Olive Festival is being postponed. “The decision to postpone this years’ festival has been a difficult one but it is based on strong feedback from Olive and Olive Oil exhibitors that due to this years harvest they do not have sufficient products or oil and are therefore cutting back on marketing & promotional opportunities.” Crawford said. “This season has been a particularly tricky one, yields are lower than expected which has resulted in companies having less product to sell.”
The New Zealand Olive Festival has been held in Hastings for 2 years and it is expected that the festival will return in some form in 2013, the festival is all about olives and oil. Hawke’s Bay produces over 50% of New Zealand’s olive oil and will always be the home of the festival.
