September 18 2012

Entries open for two Waikato cook-off competitions – one for kids, one for adults

Smeg NZ is encouraging kids of all ages to stir up locally-inspired cooking creativity and submit their favourite recipes and compete in a cook-off at the Waikato Home & Garden Show. Entries close next week.

Smeg is hosting 'Kids Can Cook' for Waikato chefs aged between 10 and 15 and invites talented young chefs compete in two cook-offs, with the winners competing against each other to win a $200 hamper of edible and non edible treats plus tickets to the Friday Show.

Online entries are open now at www.waikatohomeshow.co.nz to submit favourite recipes to and describe why they love to cook or bake. A 30-minute recipe can be a family favourite or a unique creation.

The ‘Kids Can Cook’ cook-off will take place in the Smeg Kitchen at the Show on Friday 5th October at 5pm and 7pm, with the Finale on Sunday 7th October 2012.

Adults are also invited to submit their best recipe for a chance to pit their best recipe and cooking flair against celebrity chef Paul Jobin to receive a $500 hamper and tickets to the Waikato Home & Garden Show. The twist? - Paul only finds out what the ingredients are as the clock starts to tick. Entries close Wednesday 26 September with live cook-offs on Thursday 4th and Saturday 6th October 2012.
