Season pass programme announced for New Zealand’s premier ski areas

New Zealand’s premier ski areas in Queenstown and Canterbury have announced a price freeze on their season pass programme for 2013.

Giving snowsports lovers plenty of time to budget and plan for their winter fun in 2013, Early Bird season passes prices for Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Mt Hutt are frozen at 2012 levels, with a payment plan meaning shelling out for a pass can be ‘drip fed’ in eight easy instalments during the summer thaw.

The payment plan is available online at www.nzski.com for those who commit to next season by buying a pass between Monday 8 and Wednesday 31 October 2012.

‘It’s a great chance to get your winter sorted this summer before heading off to the beach and digging out the water toys,” said NZSki CEO James Coddington.

“We’re really thrilled to be holding prices at the same level to keep it manageable for everyone.

“While the snow’s melting and our ski area management teams are busy working on what’s new for next winter, our season pass holders, those who are new to our mountains, and their mates, can all be progressively paying towards next season at a price that won’t be too hard on the pocket.

“Anyone who still wants to pay for passes between mid-February and mid-March 2013, the traditional time we release pass prices, will still be able to do so at Early Bird prices with an optional three-month payment plan available.”

New for 2013, anyone who had a season pass in 2012 will be given a discounted full day lift ‘buddy’ pass to gift to a friend or family member in 2013. Anyone who had a pass both in 2012 and 2011will receive two discounted full day lift buddy passes.

“It’s our way of once again recognizing our season pass holders who come back to our mountains year after year, and gives them a chance to share their love for the snow with a friend or family member,” said Mr Coddington.

In a move that will be welcomed by families in Canterbury, around New Zealand and further afield, the return of Mt Hutt and Methven’s hugely popular ‘Kids4Free’ programme at Mt Hutt for the 2013 season – introduced in 2012 -- will see kids aged 10 and under ski or ride for free.

All children aged six and under will continue to receive a free day lift pass at Coronet Peak, while all children aged 10 and under will receive a free day lift pass at The Remarkables.

A Queenstown Adult Season Pass for 2013 will be $889 at the Early Bird price (Full price $1299) and a Remarkables Adult Season Pass will be $499 Early Bird (Full price $799). An NZSki Adult Season Pass for Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Mt Hutt will be $999 at the Early Bird rate. (Full price $1499).

A Mt Hutt Adult Season Pass for 2013 will be $699 at the Early Bird price (Full price $1049), a Mt Hutt Midweek Adult Season Pass is $429 Early Bird (Full price $549) and a Mt Hutt Youth Season Pass is $299 at Early Bird price (Full price $599).

All Early Bird season passes will be on sale until March 14, 2013, but the eight payment instalment option is only available until October 31, 2012.
