TV3'S 7 Days Celebrates 100th Episode

On Friday, 5 October, TV3 will broadcast the 100th episode of 7 Days - a milestone for local comedy and New Zealand television.

7 Days debuted in 2009 and soon set the standard for comedy on New Zealand screens with its hilarious and boundary pushing content.

TV3's Head of Drama and Comedy, Rachel Jean says: "7 Days launched when there was no local satire screening on New Zealand television. We were relying on international comedians to make viewers laugh. The reason 7 Days has been so successful is that, not only are these comedians at the top of their game, but they also understand what makes New Zealanders laugh.

"We are incredibly proud of 7 Days, and ready for 100 more! Our production, marketing, promotion, and in fact love of 7 Days is testament to our long-term commitment to original and innovative local programming. It's what we are about at TV3. 7 Days follows on from, and now sits as the backbone of many other successful local comedy shows in our schedule."

7 Days is one of TV3's most successful shows. It is the lynch pin for TV3's consistently high rating Friday comedy nights and has firmly established the network as the home of excellent local comedy.

During the first series of 7 Days, the show averaged an audience of 140,600 viewers, over the last three years this audience figure has increased by 50% with an average audience of 210,800 viewers.

The episode that screened on April 4, 2012 is TV3's top rating programme for the year in the 18-49 demographic and the same episode is the fourth most watched programme in the 25-54 demographic for 2012.

Commenting on the landmark episode, 7 Days Producer, Jon Bridges adds: "One hundred is a good number. We expect we'll get a letter from the Queen. I'm proud of the comedians - they've made me laugh like an idiot every week. I'm thankful to our audience who also seem to be laughing every week, and I'm really keen to make as many more episodes as we can."
