Labour Weekend: a food and Wine Extravaganza In

LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand (8 October, 2012) - Labour Weekend in Lake Wanaka will be a treat for the taste buds with the Lake Wanaka Wine and Food Fest as part of the Willowridge Wanakafest celebrations.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Mt Aspiring National Park on the shores of Lake Wanaka, local wineries will be pouring their best drops while chefs and restaurateurs serving up their culinary delights. Festival goers will enjoy live music, a relaxed picnic atmosphere on the shores of Lake Wanaka.
The Festival’s special guest, Masterchef star Jax Hamilton will be holding two master class cooking demos, there’s also wine tasting as well as NZ craft beer and wine and food matching seminars.
A quality line up of musicians will provide relaxing entertainment for those who wish to kick back. The headline act Anna Coddington specialises in unique alt-pop songs, also performing during the long weekend is local country music star Jody Direen, Martine, Anna van Reil, Kid Rock, Liv McBride, Calico and the Wanaka Ukulele Orchestra.
“It is great we have so many wonderful flavours from the region, food lovers will be treated to a range of gourmet pleasures all washed down with an excellent line up of live music,” said Iona Sanders, festival coordinator.
The fine food and entertainment continues on the Sunday with the Sunday Funday. Entry to the Lake Wanaka Food and Wine Fest is free on both days; there is a small fee for the festival beer or wine glass.
