Entries open for third Kathmandu Riverrun Trail Series

LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand (9 October 2012) – The third Kathmandu Riverrun Trail Series provides runners with the perfect opportunity to stay fit throughout the year and explore some of Lake Wanaka’s stunning river and lakeside tracks.

Kicking off on Saturday 10 November with a 5km, 10km and half marathon option on the Hawea River Track, the Series is aimed at both elite and social runners. With just under five weeks to go, there is still time to strap on the running shoes, start the training programme and take part in all four races in the series.

Race director Victoria Murray-Orr is excited to be staging the third series and is committed to encouraging new participation into running as well as showcasing the excellent network of tracks in the region.

“Creating a series encourages people to stay fit and healthy throughout the year and to set personal goals. We create a fun race environment which we hope appeals to the serious runners as well as friends and family looking for a social activity,” she said.

Entries are now open and runners can enter individual races or all four and compete for the Series trophy. There are prizes for place getters and plenty of spot prizes to encourage wider participation.

The tracks in the Series include: Race 1 - Hawea track: 5km, 10km, half marathon, 10 November 2012, Race 2 - Clutha Track 16 February 2013, Race 3 - Outlet Track, 13 April 2013, Race 4 -Glendhu Bay Track, 18 May 2013. All the tracks in the Series are challenging in their own respects

Races 1, 3 and 4 are part of the Te Araroa, the national walking trail which stretches 3000 km from Cape Reinga to Bluff. The Long Pathway - is a continuous 3,000 km walking track from Cape Reinga to Bluff, one of the longest walking routes in the world.
