A rare opportunity to see one of NZ's most acclaimed and original bands as they throw it down in small venues is coming your way in November.

Cairo Knife Fight aka Nick Gaffaney and Aaron Tokona can normally be found playing in front of huge audiences thanks to high profile support slots with the likes of Queens Of The Stone Age, Foo Fighters and Them Crooked Vultures, to name just a few. But now they really want to see the whites of your eyes.

The band are best known for their abrasive sonic assaults - Gaffaney multitasks on drums, loops, keyboard and vocals, while Tokona punishes his guitar to create all manner of limitless guitar soundscapes and incendiary riffs. Their live performances are infamous for their unpredictability and sheer aural mayhem, helped in no small part by the complementary nature of Gaffaney and Tokona's personalities. These oppositional forces help to give Cairo Knife Fight their enviable musical dynamism.

Their last release, 2011's II EP received rave reviews and impressive sales. Their performance at last year's influential CMJ festival was described as "... some bastard child of the Stooges and Neu! with a serious side of Zeppelin. Not when they were bloated parodies of rock n roll but when they were stomping their opposition into the ground with a glee the Pistols could only dream about", which is just about as perfect a summation of their sound as you are ever gonna get.

Joining CAIRO KNIFE FIGHT on all dates will be Auckland act DECORTICA.

Decortica will release their new album on October 26th through EMI records.
