Dear
Lemmy,
You had me at woof.
While on the hunt for a pedigree schnauzer, I discovered a Tokoroa mongrel destined for the pound. Your ridiculous conformation may never win you a “Best in Show” but you captured my heart in an instant. No mood is ever so dark that it cannot be brightened by one look at your goofy face and I challenge anyone to resist a smile when they spot your unusual sleeping habits.
You are never far from my mind, if only because I carry half of your coat around on my clothes. I cannot imagine a life without you. Dayna xxx Dayna Stanley and Lemmy: Auckland Lemmy (7, mixed breed) accompanies Dayna, a graphic designer, to work, brightening everyone at her workplace’s day. © 2012 PQ Blackwell Limited A Letter to My Dog: New Zealand Edition is available exclusively through Whitcoulls, $29.99 RRP, November 1
