Registrations Now Open For AMI Round the Bays 2013
Registrations for AMI Round the Bays 2013 are now open online at www.amiroundthebays.co.nz.
This iconic event takes place on Sunday 17 February 2013 in Wellington.
The event is organised by Sport Wellington, a Regional Sports Trust which promotes and supports sport and recreation in the Wellington region. AMI Insurance is proud to continue their support of the AMI Round the Bays as the principal sponsor for the third year running.
The official charity is once again the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research. Based at Wellington's Victoria University and also supported by AMI Insurance, the Malaghan Institute is New Zealand's leading independent medical research facility. The scientists at the Malaghan Institute are dedicated to finding a cure for cancer, asthma and allergies, arthritis, MS and other infectious diseases. Participants can raise money to support their amazing work by opting to 'Run for Research’ when they enter.
The 2012 event was the first ever sell out in the event’s long history, with a record field of 12,000 runners. Sport Wellington has increased capacity to 13,000 but expect to sell out once again.
Event Director Craig Ireson says “we opened registrations last night and hit 500 people within two hours, today we already have over 1000 people entered in both the 7km fun run and the ISC Lenco Half Marathon.”
Both distance options hug the beautiful inner city harbour, starting at Frank Kitts Park and finishing at Kilbirnie Park. The 2013 ISC Lenco Half Marathon doubles as the Athletics New Zealand National Half Marathon Championships; the flat, fast, well measured course is a road runner’s dream.
Participants can ‘work out for free’ at Les Mills gyms from the moment they enter, and work towards their own personal best finish. However the event is more than just a running race. Participants enjoy a party like atmosphere at the ‘finish line festival’ on Kilbirnie Park, with bands, prizes, BBQs and plenty of fun activities for the whole family. Corporate teams can hire their own marquees to relax and unwind in after the run.
For more information and to enter go to amiroundthebays.co.nz today and ensure your spot on the start line on February 17.
