Pye Back on The Dais With Second At Winton

Pye Back on The Dais With Second At Winton

For immediate release: 18th November, 2012.

Triple Eight Race Engineering's Scott Pye has finished Round Six of the Dunlop Series second after a day of mixed results at Winton Motor Raceway.

With today's opening 12-lap race a reverse grid for the top ten, Pye started the 12-lap race ninth as a result of his second place finish in yesterday's race.

The Monster Energy/ Gear Wrench driver moved into eighth off the start and ran consistently before gaining another position when Ford driver Chaz Mostert ran off track.

Pye moved into sixth after the restart but was spun around at Turn 11 on Lap 10 while making a move for fifth position. Pye dropped back down the order and eventually finished the race 13th.

With combined meeting points determining the drivers grid position for the final 12-lap race, Pye started fourth and moved into third off the line.
The South Australian passed Dale Wood for second position on lap 4 where he remained until the race end.

"Overall it was a really great weekend," Pye said. "To finish second twice was amazing but I had a really unfortunate Race 2 with the reverse grid raising chaos as it usually does.

"It's no surprise with the race format but we got dealt the worst hand and I ended up off in the grass. I recovered well and was able to start the final race from the second row of the grid.

"Overall the Commodore was fantastic and we are still in contention of the Championships so I'm looking forward to Sydney," Pye concluded.
