The Sound Celebrates Year One And a
Loyal Fan Base
As partygoers ring in the New Year, The
Sound radio station will be toasting their first year of
broadcast after launching into the New Zealand radio market
exactly one year earlier.
The Sound launched at 9am on 1 January 2012 and quickly developed a following with Kiwis 35yrs+ playing the music of their generation. The station’s first year has seen an overall increase of 34,100 listeners* with a massive 53% increase in target audience#.
The success of The Sound is in part due to the programming philosophy and unrelenting focus on the music.
Programme Director Vaughan Hobbs believes this is the case, "We created a station that is unique in its approach – we truly just focus on the best music ever made. We play the whole album instead of just the hits, we don’t talk over tracks and we don’t bother with those typical wacky radio competitions. The feedback we receive from listeners shows us we’re on the right track."
The
Sound mobile app is available now for iPhone and Android.
For those heading to the beach this summer, download the app
and make The Sound your soundtrack to summer.
