Keeping cool for longer at city outdoor pools
The swimming season for the Eastbourne and Wainuiomata community outdoor pools is to be extended because of the beautiful weather, Lower Hutt Mayor Ray Wallace announced today.
“The demands on our pools this summer has been amazing,” says Mayor Wallace.
“We have taken the initiative and decided to keep the pools open for a bit longer.
“Eastbourne will now close on Sunday, 24 March, and, for Wainuiomata, the closing date will be Easter Monday, 1 April.
“I know there will be a lot of families very happy with that decision,” he says.
Attendances at the pools this summer has been up by 10 per cent.
“The pools have been pretty much full of people right through-out the summer,” he says.
