Depot Artspace Exhibition Openings - Saturday 16 March
As part of the Auckland Arts Festival, the Depot
Artspace, Museum of the Vernacular and various galleries
around Devonport are participating in White Night! We would be pleased if you
could join us for the openings of our latest exhibitions
Conspicuous Consumption and Pot
Luck at the Depot Artspace on Saturday 16
March, 6-10pm.
Conspicuous Consumption is a degustation of artistic interpretations about the meaning of sustenance and people’s relationship to it, focusing on one of our most evocative and provocative objects of attention: food. 16 artists explore the social, historical, cultural, emotional, sensory and symbolic aspects of what we consume.
Including work by Katherine Batchelor, Janette Cervin, Graham Downs, Linda Gair, Robyn Gibson, Bev Goodwin, Weilun Ha, Andrea Halley, Joanna Lewton, Sue Lorimer, Sally Lush, Prue MacDougall, Sean McDonnell, Nyle Major, Biljana Popovic, Mandy Thomsett Taylor and Ruby Watson.
Pot Luck cooks up a visual storm
investigating the evolution of our distinctive Kiwi culinary
culture and the Depot Artspace would like you to
participate! This exhibition comprises local
artefacts that relate to New Zealand’s culinary culture
and will take place in the Vernacular Lounge at the Depot
Artspace. You are invited to bring an item to display or a
photograph that represents what Kiwi culinary culture means
to you.
Both exhibitions will run from the 16th – 28th
of
March.
