Giveaways

Tune in to 91FM this week and when the time is right, you can win copies of The Veils' brand new 4th album Time Stays, We Go, along with this year's The Veils at Abbey Road EP, as well as names on the door to Matt Langley's Virginia Avenue Album Release Show, Friday the 3rd of May at Chick's Hotel.

Feature CD

The Veils - Time Stays, We Go
Time Stays, We Go is the fourth album for the The Veils, mixed by Bill Price (producer legend for The Clash). Previous releases have been out on Rough Trade Records, but Time Stays, We Go is released on the artists own label Pitch Beast Records! The album consists of ten songs culled from a batch of literally hundreds of songs that Adam Greenspan and Nick Launay (producer The Bad Seeds, Yeah Yeah, Yeahs) helped sort through. Long time collaborators Sophia Burn (bass), Raife Burchell (drums), Daniel Raishbrook (guitar) and new member Uberto Rapisardi (hammond organ) help create a rich musical backdrop for lead singer Finn Andrews' songs. Time Stays, We Go shows The Veils at the very height of their creative powers so far, and it comes as a Double CD version featuring a 5 track EP: The Veils Live at Abbey Road Studios.

Win it on Breakfast at 8:15 all this week with Aaron Hawkins.

On The Radio

Sunday School - Sunday 5th May - 6-8pm - The Sound of Young Scotland Part 1 w./ Ian Henderson
Let our Scottish Import Ian Henderson take you on a journey through the high roads & low roads of Scottish alternative music, past & present, on The Sound of Young Scotland Part 1. If Dunedin is the Edinburgh of the South, then Scottish music should make some sense to us, right? Tune in to hear Ian test that theory. Expect some familiar jangling pop from Orange Juice & Teenage Fanclub, some less familiar buzz-saw punk from Bis and Silverfish and even some spoken word & dream-pop trance. The Sound Of Young Scotland Sunday School Part 1, with Ian Henderson. Sunday, 6-8pm, on Radio One 91FM.

Radia - show 422 - for Stanley favoured by dust, by Lisa Aalders (CFRC) - Sunday 5th May - 10pm w./ Campbell & Sally
On this edition of Radia, CFRC proudly presents:
Kingston (Ontario, Canada) based artist / radio enthusiast
Lisa Aalders and her
experiments in guitar playing
Inspired by youthful angst, dead pets and long fingernails
Forgotten guitars of adolescence and a dusty kalimba are her tools
Recorded in her old bedroom
(listen for those background sounds of domesticity)
The approach is intimate.
The sound is coaxed out, squeezed out
Ripped out
It is ultimately the (clumsy) process of finding these sounds that is revealed
to the listener.
