Bones to the Bonfire is a painting exhibition by local Wellington artist Brooke McIvor. Brooke graduated with a Fine Arts Degree in 2010 from Elam Auckland University where she was awarded a Senior Art Prize as well as the Main Art Prize for her Hunting paintings.
In this exhibition, Brooke dabbles with concepts of family crests, heraldry and her family tradition of hunting in both a historical and contemporary context.
In these pieces Brooke juxtaposes the differing textures of man and animal; bristly hair, fur and feathers adorn fine featured women in heavily embellished gowns.
