Maze of performance art to transform K’Road bar
Maze of performance art to transform K’Road bar
[Press Release]
3 July 2013
On Saturday July 13th, Wine Cellar and Whammy bar will be taken over by musicians, artists and performers in support of animal welfare charity SAFE.
The event will invite guests to participate in a ‘social experiment’ where they collect points as they move around the maze set up throughout the underground space.
Interactive performances of dance, projected video artworks, and spoken word will be placed around the maze, waiting to be discovered by the guests or ‘human subjects’ in the experiment.
A backdrop of sound from an impressive line-up of local acts, including Deer Park, $noregazZzm, Randa, and Psychic Glands, will provide a hypnotic accompaniment to the artworks.
Elise Sterback, producing the event under her alias Vibracorp, says she is excited to be collaborating with musician Hamish Black (Graveyard Love), and art director Laura Smith.
“Hamish and Laura are two very talented individuals, and I’m eager and intrigued to see what amazing creation will emerge when our powers are combined.”
Vibracorp produced a unique, interactive happening, with mimes and human-sized disco balls, that was hit at Splore Festival last year.
They hope to raise over $1,000 for SAFE through this event, with the support of sponsors and donations from guests on the night.
‘Human Testing’ will be held at Wine Cellar and Whammy Bar on 13 July, from 9pm. Tickets are $10, available from Under The Radar, or through facebook.com/Vibracorp. All profits will be donated to SAFE animal charity.
