Film Festival recognises NZ/Hong Kong Film 'Eternity'
Madrid International Film Festival recognises NZ/Hong Kong Film Eternity & Actor
Wellington, New Zealand: Alex Galvin’s second feature film Eternity has won two Awards at the recent Madrid International Film Festival: Best Editing of a Feature Film for Alex Galvin and Nick Swinglehurst and Best Supporting Actor for Wellington actor Ralph Johnson who played Sherlock.
Eternity won selection to the Madrid Festival and was nominated for four Awards, which also included Tony St. George of Polyroniks Digital for Best Visual Effects, and Alex Galvin for Best Original Screenplay of a Feature Film Award.
The Madrid International Film Festival www.madridinternationalfilmfestival.com which ran from 1-6 July, recognises exceptional achievement in film from the smallest independent film makers to the most popular English and foreign language films in all genres.
Eternity’s Director Alex Galvin said, “Winning these Awards provides further recognition for the cast and crew who worked so hard on creating Eternity and particularly so for Ralph who was in very good company – Sir Ben Kingsley won Best Actor for his role in A Common Man.”
Eternity was shot in Hong Kong and several New Zealand locations including Wellington, the Kapiti Coast and Hawke’s Bay.
“I couldn't be happier for Ralph Johnson, I regard him as one of New Zealand's finest actors and he was absolutely superb in the role of Sherlock; he owned that role and for me these Awards are all the more satisfying because all the other feature films winners were multi-million dollar productions.
“I am just so proud of all those involved including all the cast and crew and supporters of the Film, and sincerely thank the many individuals and organisations in Wellington Hawkes Bay Kapiti and Hong Kong that provided tremendous goodwill and generous support, that made the film possible.”
