For a limited time, a number of tickets are on sale for $25. That's less than ten bucks a day to experience one of the best weekends of your life. You get to talk with like minded folks, pitch an idea (if you have one), join a team, meet your next co-founder, enjoy 7 delicious meals and drink all the coffee your little stomach can handle. Seem too good to be true? It will be if you wait too long!

The 54-hour event begins with open-mic pitches on Friday, when attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday, teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practising LEAN Startup Methodologies and building a minimal viable product. On Sunday evening, teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts, after which the supreme and second place winners, plus honourable mentions, are named.

Last year's event in Palmerston North was the first one in New Zealand to be held outside a major centre. Based on its success, Startup Weekends were held in other provincial centres this year and last, including Rotorua, Hamilton and Napier.

Dave Moskovitz, Global Facilitator for Startup Weekend, was in town at the time and said, "I was blown away by the quality of what was achieved over the weekend. It was at the same level as what we've seen come out of Auckland and Wellington.

"What really stood out, and made all the difference, was the teamwork. Teamwork trumps naked skill, and too much ego in a fast-moving high-pressure situation is a recipe for failure. The Palmy crew just got stuck in and worked hard together, which produced excellent results."
