Auckland Unitarian Church says YES to Inaugural Gay Wedding
19 July – ZM’s Fabulous Gay Wedding has a new home, the inaugural gay wedding will now take place at the Auckland Unitarian Church in Ponsonby on 19 August, (the day the bill becomes law).
ZM’s Content Director, Christian Boston says Reverend Dr Matt Tittle contacted the station after hearing that St Matthew’s in the City had pulled out.
“We were always confident we would find another church but obviously we’re hugely grateful to Reverend Matt for proactively coming forward. From ZM’s perspective it was always about ensuring a proper wedding, no half measures. Thanks to Reverend Matt and the Auckland Unitarian Church, that will happen.”
Rev Tittle says that the Auckland Unitarian Church was established in 1897 and are delighted they will be involved in such an important occasion.
“Unitarian’s are a liberal faith that draws from many sources. We believe in the worth of all people, we understands that revelation is continuous, and we celebrate everything as part of one divine creation. They have long been in the forefront of gay rights and marriage equality.”
ZM’s celebrity breakfast host, Polly Gillespie couldn’t be more thrilled.
“It’s such good news! Who doesn’t love weddings? This is going to be one of the most amazing weddings of all times because of its significance for our whole country.”
