CHRISTCHURCH CBS Arena – Tuesday 21st January – Licensed and All Ages

Universally hailed as an electrifying live act with sold out signs slapped on stadiums across the globe, Paramore are a band on a stratospheric trajectory seemingly without limits in what they are accomplishing. Nowhere is this more obvious than in their recently released self-titled fourth album that has received the best reviews of an already massively acclaimed career.

The album’s phenomenal success saw the Grammy Award nominated band from Nashville, Tennessee hitting #1 on Albums charts around the world including New Zealand, USA, UK, Australia, Ireland, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico. The current single ‘Still Into You’ has been a permanent fixture around the top of NZ singles and radio charts and the new single ‘Ain’t It Fun’ has all the ingredients to potentially become the biggest they’ve ever released.

Paramore are a band at the top of their game, a force of nature and in vocalist Hayley Williams they have one of the best and smartest female talents anywhere in music today. Alongside guitarist Taylor York and bassist Jeremy Davis Paramore return to New Zealand as one of the biggest and brightest artists on the planet. With millions of albums sold and audiences banging down the doors, we’re thrilled to be bringing Paramore back for their third tour to New Zealand and their most spectacular and biggest production to date.

Paramore’s special guests for both shows are TWENTY ONE PILOTS. Described as “schizoid pop”, twenty one pilots duo, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun from Ohio USA have become one of the most talked about artists going around. “Get in on the ground floor while you can because we’re predicting that big things are on the horizon for this young duo.” absolute punk

Howard Davis: Joel Coen's Monochromatic Macbeth

The Bard of Avon may well be smirking up the sleeves of his lace doublet at the irony of Will Smith's Oscar debacle, but now that the initial furore has dissipated, it's worth revisiting the movie for which Denzel Washington was also nominated. More>>

Howard Davis: Kenneth Branagh’s Black & White Belfast

Branagh has assembled a wonderful cast, including Ciarán Hinds, a gently formidable actor who well deserves his Oscar nomination, and Judi Dench, who steals every scene she’s in. More>>

So many elements of Herbert’s novel have since become tropes of popular SciFi that Villeneuve’s film sometimes seems deceptively derivative. What makes all this nonsense essential viewing is his astonishing visual sensibility. More>>
