Announcing Split Enz - ENZO Stranger Than Fiction

Announcing Split Enz - ENZO Stranger Than Fiction

15 piece band, 5 original Split Enz members & the X-factor

On Saturday November 2, St Mary’s in Holy Trinity, Parnell, Auckland will host a unique concert experience as Eddie Rayner, the amazingly talented keyboard maestro and original member of Split Enz, presents a brand new live production... ENZO-Stranger Than Fiction.

ENZO-Stranger Than Fiction will reunite five original members of Split Enz along with Eddie’s new 15-piece ENZEMBLE dance band and six handpicked contemporary vocalists with a new interpretation of the songs composed by the Finn Brothers, Phil Judd and Eddie Rayner.

It’s over a decade since we first experienced the magnificent EnzSo album and stage show. Back then, Eddie had utilised the NZSO, National Youth Choir and iconic singers to rearrange, record and tour the colourful songs of Split Enz.

“The original EnzSo album was my first foray into the orchestral world, but I did miss the groove of a modern rhythm section. I’ve been working for over a year on arrangements for a more rhythm-orientated dance band, and combining that with the orchestral palette, I’ve come up with a 15 piece band I call ‘ENZEMBLE’– and it works.  It’s really exciting!” enthuses Rayner.

With five original members of Split Enz, (Eddie Rayner, Mike Chunn, Geoff Chunn, Emyln Crowther & Wally Wilkinson) plus special guest vocalists Jackie Thomas (Winner of X-Factor) Tom Batchelor, Annie Crummer, Rima Te Wiata, Rikki Morris & Jesse Sheehan, the show will contain many well-loved Enz songs, alongside several no-less fabulous ones from the band’s iconic Mental Notes album.
