Speed Championship starts this Sunday

Otago Sports Car Club is pleased to announce its 2013-14 Otago Metals Speed Championship will start this Sunday (22 Sept) with the Flagstaff Hillclimb.

The Otago Metals Speed Championship is Dunedin & East Otago’s premier club motor-sport series. The rounds consist of both sealed and gravel events, usually hill-climbs. Last year’s Championship was won by Dunedin car dealer Craig Molloy in a Mitsubishi Evo, who gained maximum points in every event.

Sunday’s event is in the forestry between Whare Flat and the Pineapple Track. Documentation and scrutineering is at 10 – 1030am, and racing should start around 11am.

OSCC would greatly like to thank local company, Otago Metals, who are also sponsoring the recently implemented Otago Metals Sealed Speed Championships, which is held over summer for 2wd cars. OSCC also plans to run an Autocross Championship over summer, which is an ideal level for beginners to try motor-sport.

Anyone interested in competing can contact Jake Thomas (0274489407, thomas.119@hotmail.com) or Mark Baxter (mark.baxter@op.ac.nz).
