Louis Baker - Birds
Today sees the release of Birds from Louis Baker available on iTunes and Bandcamp.
Written when Louis was 18, Birds was recorded in London at Snap Studios and produced and mixed by Andy Lovegrove (Breaks Co-op) and is the first single from Louis Baker’s debut EP due out early 2014.
“Once in a while, and it's not very often, you come across an artist that really connects, someone you just know in your heart deserves to be heard, to be experienced and appreciated. Louis Baker is that person. The first time I heard Louis perform was a live rendition of 'Birds' on breakfast TV in New Zealand. He bared his soul and won me over in a heartbeat. He makes it look so easy, when it isn't, and does it all with an air of honesty and humility that is extremely appealing. I knew that I had to work with him before the song had even finished” states Lovegrove.
Birds is a single that showcases Louis voice front and centre with just his guitar and simple strings to adorn it. A song that stems from an earnest longing for love and one that is perhaps cultivated in the mind before even meeting a person. The accompanying video reflects this theme and has been directed by international photographer Mat Baker.
To celebrate the release of Birds, Louis will be opening for Kiwi favourites Fat Freddy’s Drop at their sold out gig tonight at the Wellington Opera House.
Louis announced a solo show at Bats Theatre on the 13th October in Wellington which sold out in 24 hours – a second show has been announced at an earlier time the same day and tickets are available from www.dashtickets.co.nz. More shows will be announced at a later date.
Louis Baker is also playing live at several festivals over summer including Homegrown, Rhythm & Vines and Rhythm & Alps.
