Massive local business support for Young Dancers

Over 80 Wellington businesses are supporting a Wellington Dance Academy trip to the London Dance Proms through contributions of products or vouchers to sell in an online fundraising sale. Fifteen young dancers (11-16) will take to the stage of the Royal Albert Hall on November 3 for this annual event, having been one of 25 groups chosen from over 1000 worldwide entries.

The contributions have flooded in from businesses in the Thorndon Quay area where the ballet studio is located, as well as from the wider Wellington region and even nationwide businesses for the online fundraiser which starts tonight at 6pm.

“It is staggering the generosity and support which we have received from Wellington businesses for our sale” say organisors Helen Flannery and Wanda Lepionka. “People were so responsive and positive about providing us with items to sell. It just goes to show Wellington’s community spirit is alive and well, despite retail being a bit tough at the moment.”

The sale starts tonight at 6pm, Friday 20 September and can be found at www.londonfundraising.com. Donations can also be made through this website.
