Spanish Producer John Talabot to Play One Show in Auckland
“...where pop and house influences sweetly buffer up against one another to provide an unyielding sense of elation“- Pitchfork
“Talabot has arguably the greatest sense of build-and-release in dance music since prime Booka Shade” – The Guardian, UK
JOHN TALABOT has just announced he’s touching down in Auckland for one show at Cassette Nine next Thursday, 3rd October.
Turning heads with his smooth mix of house, disco and sun-kissed pop, this Barcelona native – otherwise known as Oriol Riverola - is hot on the international club circuit at the moment. Having toured with The xx in 2012, this electronic wizard has brought a comparison with artists like Four Tet or Caribou.
Since his debut 12 in 2009 on Permanent Vacation, he had 12 releases on his own imprint Hivern Discs, Young Turks and Permanent Vacation. He’s in demand as a remix artist for the likes of The xx, Golden Filter, Shit Robot, Thaiti 80, Joakim or Teengirl Fantasy, to name just a few.
In early 2012, Talabot released the universally praised, debut album ƒin, which Pitchfork claimed as Best New Music, Dazed and Confused described as, an “mixing up field recordings with northern should twangs and dark tropical pop beats” and Resident Advisor saw it as a “...contender for electronic album of the year.”
Expect a dynamic concoction of dancefloor-orientated, addictive beats from this Spanish beat-maker next week.

Tickets are on sale for $15 on the door.
