New Zealand-based Travel Channel series to draw global audience in over 130 countries
AUCKLAND – OCTOBER 29, 2013: Travel Channel’s exciting new travel-based entertainment series, RV Rampage, has commenced production right here in New Zealand.
The series will broadcast across a global network of over 130 territories including UK, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific by mid-next year, drawing a potential audience of up to 200 million.
Series hosts Henry Cole and Amanda Byram touched down recently in Auckland, joined by five contesting couples harking from Russia, South Africa, Thailand and United Kingdom.
Henry Cole, seasoned Travel Channel host and presenter of World’s Greatest Motorcycle Rides is thrilled to be back in New Zealand, the place he declares is the best country in the world to tour on motorcycle.
“I ride all over the world and I’m yet to find a country as wonderful as New Zealand. It really is God’s Own Country and it’s awesome to be back.”
Hugely popular Irish presenter and broadcaster Amanda Byram of Total Wipeout, The Swan and Big Breakfast fame, is equally thrilled to be here.
“It’s my first time to New Zealand and it’s the most excited I’ve been about a show in a very long time. I love travel and adventure so this is a dream job for me. I’d heard lots of amazing things about New Zealand before coming over so I’m really excited to discover it for myself.”
Commencing from Auckland, the 10 x 60’ production takes in 10 locations including Rotorua, Taupo, Marton/Taihape, Wellington, Abel Tasman, Greymouth, Franz Josef Glacier, Wanaka and Queenstown.
Tourism New Zealand has provided valuable assistance to RV Rampage producers, keen to maximise the exposure of the country as a tourism destination.
Says Catherine Bates, Tourism New Zealand’s General Manager of International PR and Major Events:
“It’s a real coup that New Zealand has been chosen as the filming destination for this new series, which will showcase its breadth and beauty to a global audience.”
While RV Rampage has a mixture of local, British and Australian crew, over half are Kiwis. Additionally, New Zealand motorhome brand, maui, is a key sponsor of the series.
