PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, 1 November 2013
ROB MCLEOD LANDS IN WELLINGTON AGAIN
{Suite} is pleased to present Rob McLeod’s first private gallery show in Wellington in 10 years. When The Aliens Land continues to emphasise McLeod’s insistence on the relevance of painting in contemporary art practice. As ‘aliens’ descend onto a parade of cartoon-like characters, escaping the frame by McLeod’s trademark contoured plywood, a scene of chaos ensues - the physical and psychological space of the viewer is invaded, as paintings own conventions are pushed to evolve.

When The Aliens Land follows on from Rob’s recent solo exhibitions: Supporting Patrick Thistle, at City Gallery Wellington and Imposters, Aliens and Angels, at Pataka Art + Museum. Rob’s work is represented in the collections of, amongst others, The Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, Auckland Art Gallery, Christchurch Art Gallery, The Sarjeant Gallery and The Dowse.
