Crown Relocations and SKYCITY Breakers team up for Sallies
Crown Relocations and the ANBL championship winning SKYCITY Breakers are joining forces to help The Salvation Army fill its food banks leading up to Christmas.
Crown is sponsoring the Breaker’s fixture against the Adelaide 36’ers at Vector Arena on November 15. The event will also serve as a Big Sallie Surprise fundraiser.
C.J. Bruton is urging Breakers fans to help by bringing a can of food to donate at the game. Fans can also bring gold coins in order to purchase a can and donate it back to the Sallies. For every can sold by Crown the SKYCITY Breakers will match it by donating a can of its own.
“Join us and Crown Relocations as we take on the Adelaide 36’ers at Vector Arena,” Bruton says. “Make it a slam dunk and bring a can for Sallies’ food bank.”
Salvation Army public relations director Shane Chisholm says many families need extra support during the festive season.
“Sadly many families will do it tough this Christmas and more families than ever are seeking our support for the first time.”
A Crown truck will be parked in the Vector courtyard so cans can be dropped off on the way into the venue. Crown CAN STATIONS will also be set up inside.
In the month leading up to the game Crown has led a donation drive attracting more than 70,000 cans and $23,000 worth of non-perishable food product.
The Salvation Army has been helping fight poverty in New Zealand since 1883. The organisation is entirely dependent on donations, grants and public funding to provide counselling, emergency and community services to more than 120,000 Kiwis and their families. The food banks are at the heart of their efforts, providing a lifeline to thousands of people who struggle to feed themselves and their families.
