New Zealand Fesival Releases Extra Tickets

New Zealand Fesival Releases Extra Tickets

“It is hard to do justice to the dark poetic brilliance of The Tiger Lillies, so the best thing I can advise is that you go and see them yourselves” The Scotsman

Cult favourites The Tiger Lillies have proven to be a hot ticket at next year’s New Zealand Festival. At 12noon today, the Festival will release final available A and B reserve seats for the Tiger Lillies’ two concerts at the St James Theatre on 8 and 9 March 2014.

Festival Executive Director Sue Paterson said, “Since The Tiger Lillies brought their award-winning musical Shockheaded Peter to the Festival in 2000, they have established a loyal following of fans from all across New Zealand. For those who are yet to secure tickets, we’re delighted to be able to release a strictly limited number of best seats. As The Tiger Lillies are playing for two nights only, these extra seats are likely to get snapped up quickly, so we recommend that fans move fast.”

Music lovers, movie buffs and those who delight in the weird and wonderful are in for a treat when The Tiger Lillies return to the St James Theatre with their inimitable take on Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s famous epic poem, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

In this 90-minute music hall cabaret which they say “floats somewhere between a movie and a concert”, The Tiger Lillies will perform 25 Mariner-inspired songs set against giant projected animations of seascapes designed by the American photographer Mark Holthusen. From monstrous creatures of the deep to ghoulish mermaids and ghostly apparitions, the result is like “a Terry Gilliam animation made manifest” (The Scotsman). As the Edinburgh Festival magazine suggests, the eccentric genius of The Tiger Lillies should be experienced first-hand to be comprehended, “The Tiger Lillies are a hugely impressive act that will never fail to enthrall on some level”.
