International best-selling author Celia Lashlie comes to Upper Hutt
Acclaimed author Celia Lashlie is coming to present at the Upper Hutt Library on 10 December at the event ‘Celia Lashlie-Live.’ She will be speaking on the topic of supporting families to bring up boys who can make good decisions and avoid risky behaviour.
UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 22 NOV 2013—International best-selling author Celia Lashlie is returning to Upper Hutt by popular demand. Celia will be at the Upper Hutt City Library on 10 December to speak on her three highly acclaimed books.
A social justice advocate, researcher, and New Zealand’s first female prison guard in a male prison, Celia is well known for having an in depth knowledge on how to bring up boys well. Her books, The Journey to Prison: Who Goes and Why and He'll be OK: Growing Gorgeous Boys into Good Men have been released to critical acclaim throughout the UK and Australia as well as New Zealand. Her most recent book, The Power of Mothers: Releasing our Children, published in 2010, continued her work on exploring how families, and especially mothers and grandmothers, can hold the key to changing the lives of children. Her work also explores how to instil boys with sound decision-making skills so they avoid risky behaviour.
Due to the success of her national speaking tours, and her popularity when she last spoke in Upper Hutt, Community Programmes Coordinator Erica Herron believes the event will sell out. “Celia has a strong message for all members of the community who are involved in raising children; her talks are so popular, I would suggest getting tickets fast.”
Tickets can be purchased at the Upper Hutt Library front desk, by calling (04) 527 2171, or by emailing erica.herron@uhcc.govt.nz
