Organisers of the NZ Festival of Tennis are pleased to welcome wildcard, rising US star Jack Sock to Auckland next month, to join the 2014 Heineken Open field.
As a wildcard entry for the 2010 US Open, Sock proceeded to the final where he defeated fellow American, Dennis Kudla, to become the first American winner of the Junior Championships since Andy Roddick, his tennis idol.
Sock then went on to win the Mixed Doubles title at the 2011 US Open, with fellow American Melanie Oudin – the same year he graduated from High School.
An aggressive baseliner, Sock’s forehand and serve are his biggest weapons, with his second serve being one of the most devastating of the younger generation. He hits with a large amount of spin and has excellent touch at net, being able to hit volley winners with ease.
The NZ Festival of Tennis looks forward to welcoming Jack in January.
