New Zealand's women's skeleton racer Katharine Eustace will take on the Sanki Sliding Centre for day one a two-day competition tonight (NZ 8.30pm). Eustace will race twice on each day reaching speeds in excess of 100 kilometres an hour aiming to minimise time taken down the 1,184m course that features 17 corners and is the longest, and among the safest, in the world.Times are accumulated over the two day race schedule with the four times being added together for a grand total on which places are ranked.

Winter Performance Programme Director Ashley Light says the 38 year old first time Olympian has been achieving some good times that see her secure a credible result tomorrow.“She’ll be going out and doing what she can, focusing on getting all the components right and looking forward to a good couple of runs." he said. “Katharine is feeling confident, she feels her training has gone exceptionally well and the jigsaw is about putting together runs on a new skeleton track and that’s also coming together. You have to work out each corner on where you enter and exit and once you put it all together you find out how good you are. She has demonstrated she is capable of a credible top ten result.”Eustace slides in heat 1 tomorrow with bib number 9.
