Heading to the Piako Fete for a Ladies Day Out

Grab your girlfriends and head to Matamata for the best Ladies Day Out this summer. The Piako Fete is being held on Thursday 27 November at Daltons Plantation and will host an eclectic mix of high quality stalls along with demonstrations, food and drink, a fashion show and live music entertainment.

“Piako Fete is all about ladies having a great day out. We’ve rounded up fashion, beauty, cuisine, gardening and shopping against Daltons Plantation’s backdrop of 10 acres of beautiful landscaped display gardens,” says organiser Lynsey Champion.

Among the entertainment for the day is a top fashion demonstration from Repertoire and Sue Engels a bespoke shoemaker. They will be joined by award winning landscape designer – Xanthe White. The Apron Strings the 13 piece ukulele band, Paul Vincent Cambridge musician and dozens of stall holders offering exclusive shopping opportunities including plants, clothing, crafts and arts for sale.

“It’s an opportunity to have a girly indulgence day and get some Christmas shopping done,” says Lynsey.

Advance tickets are $19, available from eventfinder.co.nz ($20 at the gate) and a donation from profits will go to support the Waikato Breast Cancer Trust.

Organisers Lynsey Champion, one of NZ’s finest cloth hat makers, and Michelle Lewis, a graphic designer started plotting their ideal pre-Christmas day out when the Ellerslie Flower Show moved to Christchurch leaving a void for a North Island Ladies Day Out.

In 2012 the Waiheke based duo teamed up with Daltons Plantation to host the inaugural Piako Fete in Matamata, the epicentre of the North Island, almost.

Modelled on the supremely successful fetes in the South Island, which Lynsey has attended several times as a stallholder, their aim is for the Piako Fete to become a well established annual event and earn the title of the ultimate Ladies Day Out.

A donation from profits will be made to the Waikato Breast Cancer Trust.
