Capital E’s Big Halloween is back!

Capital E’s Big Halloween is back!

Rough winds may howl and dark skies gather over Capital E's Queens Wharf dwelling on Saturday 1 November, as mayhem and mischief collide for a chilling Halloween adventure.

Are you prepared to unearth the hidden treasure and spooky secrets of Chaos Cove, or test your nerve and explore Eerie Island, where sea shanties fill the air and pirates roam unguarded? Perhaps you’ll be safer huddled together in Ghoul’s Galley. But don’t get caught! You might be forced to walk the plank.

In the midst of it all, for the braver soul, is a haunted shipwreck, lying in the darkness undisturbed and waiting, its crew rumoured to wander the wreckage. Don’t be scared, this is no time to be afraid of your own shadow…

The much-anticipated return of Capital E’s The Big Halloween celebrates their new location with the theme of this year’s spooky extravaganza, Wicked Wharf and, as always, offers a fun and interactive evening for the whole family to enjoy, Leanne Parsons, event organiser, says.

“We have a fun and safe sanctuary for littlies in E Central, while older kids are catered for with a ghost walk around the Museum of Wellington City & Sea.”

The shipwreck trail through the museum is certainly not for the faint-hearted, warns Parsons, and participants are encouraged to bring along their own torch to light the way!

“There won’t be a tour-guide for this museum experience, so be prepared.”

Elsewhere, Capital E’s Halloween spectacular will be in full force with E Central and under the sails packed with the madcap fun and mayhem the community has come to associate with this family-favourite event.

Under the sails sees the return of the main stage, with the wacky and wonderful Hank the Shark providing unbeatable entertainment. There are roaming performers, food stalls and everyone’s favourite Trick or Treat booth with zany characters hiding behind every door. Who will answer when you knock? In E Central, a breath-taking visual wonderland is prepared for younger Halloween goers.

Also due for a comeback this year is the Best-Dressed Catwalk, where the finest and most terrifying costumes are rewarded with fantastic spot prizes.

Wicked Wharf promises a delightfully spooky and memorable evening at Queens Wharf for the exciting return of Capital E’s The Big Halloween.

“Moving the date to the Saturday will give families a chance to continue their Halloween celebrations into the weekend,” says Parsons. “We’re expecting a great turnout this year since the last time the event was run was in 2011. It has definitely been a missed event on the Wellington calendar.”

The Big Halloween Wicked Wharf is at Queens Wharf on Sat 1 November, 4pm to 8pm; E Central and ghost-walk entry by gold coin donation, under the sails is free of charge. Bring a torch for the ghost-walk; more information at www.capitale.org.nz.
