Commonwealth Games Silver Medallist looking for Back To Back Wins at New Zealand’s Largest Cycling Event
The
Contact Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge is pleased to announce
that Commonwealth Games medallist, Sam Gaze, who took out
silver in the Men’s Mountain Bike at the recent Glasgow
Commonwealth Games, will be one of the riders taking on this
year’s Contact Huka XL elite MTB race on Saturday the 29th
of November.
Sam will be looking to back up not only his recent Commonwealth Games success, but will also be hunting back to back wins in the 85km Contact Huka XL, having taken out last year’s race in a time of 3:48:51.
Of his return to the challenging mountain bike course in Taupo, Sam says “I really enjoyed last year’s MTB race and the whole event was really well constructed, so I’m looking forward to getting back out there again this year and having another good day in Taupo!”
Contact Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge Event Director, Kay Brake comments “After a successful year for Sam, including his silver medal winning performance at the Commonwealth Games, we’re excited to have him back to defend his 2013 title. We’re proud to deliver an event experience which attracts riders of Sam’s calibre to come back year after year, and also gives a great opportunity for other MTB’ers to pitch themselves against some of New Zealand’s best.”
The Contact Huka XL race is just one of 20 event categories, with both road and mountain bike options available, offering something for riders of all cycling and fitness abilities.
