RENT Auditions announced by Papakura Theatre Company

RENT Auditions announced by Papakura Theatre Company, Auckland

Book, Music and Lyrics by Jonathan Larson

Directed by Dan Chasemore

Musical Direction by Lynnette Leggett

Auditions for RENT, the iconic Rock Musical will be held on Saturday 13th December 2014 at the Off Broadway Theatre in Papakura, with callbacks to be held on Sunday 14th December.

RENT is Jonathan Larson’s cutting-edge pop rock musical, based on Puccini’s La Boheme, and has electrified a whole generation of theatre-goers. RENT tells the story of a group of friends in a 1990’s New York City ravaged by the AIDS epidemic, as they come to terms with their place in an increasingly uncertain world.

To register for an audition slot, PTC is asking people to email auditions@ptc.org.nz, stating which character(s) they would like to audition for, and if possible, to include a CV or showreel.

They are also inviting people to join a workshop of the show on Thursday 11th December, also at the Off Broadway Theatre. The workshop will be a chance to see what the show is all about, meet the creative team, see the space that will be transformed into New York’s East Village, and get a chance to belt out a few of the iconic tunes.

PTC will also be documenting the entire creative process on their blog at www.making-rent.com.
