GASP! Give Artists' Space!
GASP! Give Artists' Space!
Opening Night Friday 24
October
Kicking off at 6pm with guest performance by
Audrey Baldwin
With this project the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts has aimed to provide emerging artists with the opportunity to develop their skills and practice as well as diversify their audience. Artists have been provided with the opportunity to exhibit, curate, hang, market and sell their own work. The emerging artists have had complete artistic control of the running of the show under the guidance of members of the gallery staff.
The gallery hopes to provide ongoing opportunities to nurture young artists. This is in keeping with the long standing tradition of the Academy.
Invited artists including Kim Lowe, Rebecca Smallridge, Linda Lee, Audrey Baldwin, Sophie Scott, Matthew Paterson and Hamish Colman all from Christchurch are also included in the show just to give it a twist.
