Sunday Febuary 22, 2015
Elite Polo players,
and the cream of Auckland social set are preparing to get
'back on the horse' and gear up for the 48th annual BMW Polo
Open. Auckland Polo Club is pleased to announce the
BMW Polo Open will return to the
picturesque Fisher Field, Clevedon, onSunday
February 22, 2015.
“We are delighted to
host the BMW Polo Open", says Simon Wilson, BMW Polo
Open Executive Director. "Throughout the year, Auckland
Polo Club has made a substantial investment in the grounds
and infrastructure, to ensure the BMW Polo Open 2015 is not
only a world class sporting event, but also a fantastic day
out for everyone who attends".
Auckland Polo Club
Manager, Hannah Marshall, says the standard of competition
on the field, and the hospitality available for spectators,
has stepped up a notch this year, “We are excited to
announce six teams will compete for honours at the 2015 BMW
Polo Open, including last year's champions, Rodd and Gunn.
We have some of the best International representative
players from New Zealand, England, Australia, and South
Africa, plus two strong teams making the journey from the
South Island. It's going to be a very tough tournament”.
“A day at the BMW Polo Open offers a great opportunity to catch up with friends and family, or colleagues and clients. All can enjoy the beautiful countryside, while watching the fast-paced and visually stunning sport of Polo, or simply soak up the atmosphere, and watch the glamorous crowd. Whether you sip champagne in one of the sponsors marquees, or enjoy a casual picnic, there is something for everyone", continues Marshall.
Limited Earlybird General Admission tickets
are available to purchase from www.iticket.co.nz for only $35 per
person. Ticketed guests can watch three Polo matches,
including the BMW Polo Open Final, join the fashionable
crowd on the Heineken Lawn, enjoy gourmet food, sip French
champagne and a range of beverages available to purchase
from the Chukka Lawn bars. The Earlybird ticket also
provides entry to the legendary Heineken After-party.
The picturesque grounds will come to life from 10.30am for the BMW Polo Open. This year entry to the car park will be free, and guests are welcome to bring a picnic. Or, make the day stress-free by pre-ordering a picnic from as little as $15 per person. As the Auckland Polo Club takes host responsibility seriously, the Polo grounds are a ticketed licensed venue, so only those guests aged over 18 and holding a valid ticket will be able purchase alcohol from the Chukka Lawn.
Spectators can also look forward to the annual tradition, a race between a horse and a high performance BMW car between one of the Polo games. Which type of horsepower will win the day?
Managing Director of BMW Group New Zealand, Ms Nina Englert, says the BMW Polo Open is “the perfect place to relax and take in the sight and sounds of some serious horsepower, of both the equine and automotive variety.”
Since its inception in New Zealand, the BMW Polo Open has become known as one of the most stylish daytime events of the year. It’s a chance for guests to dress in classic Polo style. Women can choose elegant sundresses with hats, while men can opt for sharp summer shirts, with chinos or stylish shorts. The Polo always attracts many celebrities, who will no doubt be dressed to impress, whilst the Fashion in the Field judges will be on the hunt for the best-dressed guests.
Limited Earlybird tickets are available from iticket.co.nz, or head to www.aucklandpolo.co.nz for more information.
