New Zealand Show ‘Coverband’ Commissioned by American Network
A script for the New Zealand television series COVERBAND has been commissioned by the number one broadcaster in America.
CBS, home to the biggest comedies in the world, has optioned the script, based on the series that was originally written by local production company thedownlowconcept.
“It’s the perfect outcome really” says co-writer and producer Jarrod Holt, “to have the home of massive comedies like The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men and 2 Broke Girls looking at Coverband is almost unbelievable.”
The show is being developed by Adam Sandler’s company Happy Madison Productions who are responsible for brokering the deal.
The show originally played on TV One in New Zealand.
Thedownlowconcept are an Auckland based production company founded by award winning writing, producing and directing team Jarrod Holt, Ryan Hutchings and Nigel McCulloch. They are the creators of TV3’s 7 Days and the critically acclaimed six part comedy series Hounds.
