McNee takes back the lead of the Toyota TR86 Championship
Jamie McNee in his Talley’s/ETEC Toyota is back in the lead of the Toyota TR86 championship, which he won last year in its inaugural season.
Despite only finishing third for the round at Ruapuna on the weekend, McNee benefited from the misfortune of Ash Blewett who had a mechanical failure in the last race. “I had some bad luck in the first round and this time it was Ash’s turn,” Jamie said.
21-year-old Wellingtonian McNee had won a race at every round of the championship since it began last year, but this weekend had to settle for two thirds and a fourth.
“My ETEC car just wasn't handling the way I like it in the heat at Ruapuna, and no matter what we did we didn't seem to be able to get the setup right,” Jamie said. “The other drivers just seemed to have the edge on me this weekend.”
McNee, who is a former Toyota Series 3rd place series finisher and race winner, now heads to Invercargill where he aims to extend his lead.
Jamie McNee is sponsored by Talley’s and ETEC.
