Director Bryn Evans was at the Awards evening and accepted the Award on behalf of the filmmakers.
Producers Paula Jones and Alex Lee said: “We are stunned by the Award. Our Kiwi documentary competed against fiction features and came up tops among audiences. This is an amazing US premiere start in sharing our taonga on the US circuit. We're very humbled by this honour.”
Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) is an eleven-day film festival taking place in Santa Barbara, California since 1986.
In 2014, the festival screened over 200 films to over 85,000 audiences, including feature films and short films, from different countries and regions.
