RainbowYOUTH Welcomes Two Young Staff Members

PRESS RELEASE: 24th FEB 2015
RainbowYOUTH Welcomes Two Young Staff Members

RainbowYOUTH wishes to welcome two young staff members to their team with an eye on bolstering their grassroots fundraising efforts and improving the support of their queer & trans* peer groups, as well as their intern and volunteering programme.

With the departure of previous Fundraising Coordinator - Paul Stevens - in late January to a permanent secondary school teaching job, the RY team would like to welcome Chase Fox, originally from Wellington, to the position.

“I’m aiming to increase financial support for RainbowYOUTH,” Chase says, “in the hopes that it will give us more capacity to broaden RY’s support for queer & trans* young people.”

RainbowYOUTH’s General Manager Duncan: “RY is really lucky to have found these two outstanding people to come on board. While sad to see Paul Stevens leave us after 18 months and making a huge contribution to the organisation, I’m confident that Chase has the skills to take on the responsibility of funding RainbowYOUTH and grow our partnerships with other organisations nationally.”

Also being welcomed as an RY staff member is Morgan Butler - a former facilitator and intern at RainbowYOUTH who will draw on their skills in youth work to fulfill the role of Support Coordinator.

“I’m proud to begin work in a community in the same way that my whanau has,” Morgan, originally from Turangi, says. “They have taught me how to respect other’s beliefs and stand true in my own. I’m really excited to bring those values into my job where I’ll work to support young people.”

RainbowYOUTH’s General Manager Duncan: “Morgan’s promotion into the role of Support Coordinator is an exciting step in growing what we are able to provide for young people. Morgan’s natural ability, tertiary training, and enthusiasm are a huge asset to RY.”
