‘BLUE GROOVE’
ROY PHILLIPS the voice of THE PEDDLERS, created the style and sound of THE PEDDLERS Jazz/Blues trio in the 60s. THE PEDDLERS set a standard of excellence highly esteemed by their peers in the music industry, performing in concert halls and clubs internationally. With PHILLIPS’ unique, soulful vocals, THE PEDDLERS became legendary throughout the world. BLUE GROOVE is Roy’s second solo album, recorded at his own studio, THE GROOVE ROOM, Christchurch, New Zealand. Work on the album began just before the earthquakes and was held up for both technical and personal reasons as a result of the natural disaster. BLUE GROOVE is an album of Roy’s original compositions, delivered in his easily recognisable, laid back style of Hammond and keyboard arrangements, together with ‘The Voice’ and that British sense of humour. BLUE GROOVE has that PHILLIPS and PEDDLERS groove, from its opening title track through to the orchestral final track, ‘FIRST LIGHT’ dedicated to departed friends and the resilient folk of Christchurch. Their struggle continues. Sit back, relax and enjoy BLUE GROOVE.
