Les Belles Vilaines are a Dunedin-based small group of dancers. The group leader Kate Grace, is a French native who shares her passion for dances and costumes from the past.
After a successful performance of Early dance last year in the Dunedin St Paul's Cathedral, they created Noblesse de Robe for the International Early Music Festival 2015.
Noblesse de Robe presents a selection of dances from the 16th Century. It highlights the various garments needed to create the unique silhouette of the European Renaissance noble woman.
Noblesse de Robe was first presented at Toitu Otago Settlers Museum last month in front of a 150 people.
Les Belles vilaines since performed the piece in Oamaru and will be in Christchurch this Saturday for an afternoon workshop of Medieval and Renaissance dances as well as an evening performance.
