Artfront: Flags for Te Wero Island
Artfront: Flags for Te Wero Island by Auckland Artist Jessica Pearless
This summer, Wynyard Quarter has played host to a range of temporal artworks from local artists with ARTFRONT, an on-going exhibition situated on Auckland’s waterfront. The most recent has just been installed - the immersive, contemplative experience of Flags for Te Wero Island by abstract artist Jessica Pearless.
A large scale digital print presented in a billboard format, Flags for Te Wero Island has been carefully created by Pearless to achieve a finely balanced composition referencing nautical flags with contrasting geometric elements.
Flags for Te Wero Island offers a vibrant pop of colour to Silo Park from its shipping container site in the Viaduct on Te Wero Island. Compelling both close up or from a distance as part of the waterfront environment, Flags for Te Wero Island brings a temporary, bright injection of contemporary abstract art to Wynyard Quarter that ought not to be missed. This work has been made possible from the generous support of Waterfront Auckland, Network Visuals and Bhavesh Bhuthadia.
