including impoverishment, poor health, and subsistence
living meaning the tribal population at the time was at an
extinction level of 280. In a KMKA Anzac Day special, Eruera
Morgan talks to Ngati Manawa kaumatua Pem Bird about the
cost of the war on the iwi, the choices his tupuna made, and
what it means for the future.
