Mae Valley Signs to Smoke Music

Tuesday, 23 June 2015 Burgeoning country duo Mae Valley has joined the Smoke Music family after signing a new deal with Sony Music.
Mae Valley is the first of Sony’s signings from their contract with the X Factor New Zealand and their management partnership with Smoke Music.
“The girls were a standout act for me from their first harmony,” says Smoke manager Mark de Jong, “within months of being together, they’ve written tunes that established acts would die for; they’ve got a rare chemistry that’ll breathe new life into country music.”
Kiwis were lucky enough to be present at the inception of the new outfit, consisting of musicians Abby Cristodoulou and Hannah Cosgrove. Cristodoulou first charmed our screens as a hopeful contestant on the second season of the X Factor New Zealand, where she shared a queue with Cosgrove, who had previously auditioned on the show’s first season. Both eliminated at bootcamp, the girls were given a second lease of life, reconstructed as a duo, winning the wildcard vote and eventually leaving the show at 7th place. Their week one cover of "If I Die Young" reached No.10 in the New Zealand artists' singles chart
The new duo is wasting no time in the wake of the show, heading into the studio to work on their new single.
