Free Theatre Christchurch presents: Kafka Ubu Night
Free Theatre Christchurch presents: Kafka Ubu Night
This Friday the Free Theatre company returns with a special Kafka Ubu Night creating an environment that weaves together film, music and performance inspired by the great dreamer’s work. In a city and time that has been described as Kafkaesque – often surreal and dreamlike – this evening’s entertainment promises to make the familiar strange and the strange familiar.
Through intimate lighting and evocative soundscape, combined with tasty morsels from Kafka’s Czech homeland, this Kafka Ubu Night will provide yet another unique experience in The Gym in the Arts Centre.
Ubu Nights are a series of weekly entertainments (combining theatre, music, film and hospitality) that engage diverse communities in interactive and sensory experiences. Free Theatre is collaborating on these Ubu Nights with Christchurch artists from different disciplines. The unique experience of contemporary performance is quite unlike anything on offer in Christchurch and is proving very popular with Neat Places describing Ubu Nights as “our new favourite thing to do on Friday nights”.
As with every Ubu Night, Ubu and his friends will be in attendance to provide a taste of the Pataphysical.
