Multi-platinum award-winning solo artist Tiki Taane erupted onto the New Zealand hip hop scene in 2007 after leaving his position as front man of famous Kiwi band Salmonella Dub. Taane’s first solo album Past, Present and Future went platinum with his first solo single Always on my Mind soaring straight to number one across the New Zealand charts. Taane’s latest album In the World of Light is a credit to his continuing success, hitting top ten in the official New Zealand countdown.

Also no stranger to the music scene is hip hop heavyweight Savage whose 2005 song ‘Swing’ hit number one in New Zealand and went platinum in Australia and America, after featuring on the film Knocked Up. Savage’s musical success continues to go from strength-to-strength working with internationally acclaimed artist Akon on the smash hit Moonshine and Timmy Trumpet’s single Freaks.

P-Money has been on the New Zealand music scene since 2004 but it was his number one solo single Stop the Music featuring Scribe that made hip hop lovers sit up and take notice. A renowned and award-winning producer and DJ, P-Money has produced five of New Zealand biggest hits, including Not Many, Stand Up and Keep on Callin featuring Akon.

Rapper PNC, an acronym for Palmerston North City where he hails from, grew an underground music reputation before his work with New Zealand hip hop royalty including P-Money, Scribe and Nesian Mystik gained him mainstream recognition. PNC’s single Day in the Life was a smash hit and his album Rookie Card won Best Urban Hip Hop album at the 2007 Vodafone Music Awards.
