North Sails Continues It's Rich History with the America's Cup
America's Cup World Series racing begins tomorrow and North Sails is proud to be the Official Sailmaker to the Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series.
North Sails has a long history with the America's Cup, helping to power every America's Cup Defender since 1983. Our shared story is one of innovation, often resulting in breakthrough sail design and materials. Most recently, North Sails 3Di RAW was tested with Artemis Racing in the 34th edition of the Cup.
While the boats and rules may change over the years, the America's Cup is the oldest trophy in sport and remains one of the world's premier sporting events. The competition features the world's best sailors racing boats that are constantly pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
ABOUT
THE LOUIS VUITTON AMERICA'S CUP WORLD
SERIES:
The Louis Vuitton America's Cup
World Series is a racing circuit featuring the best sailors
in the world, competing on foiling, wing-sailed catamarans -
an updated version of the AC45 raced in 2013.
All six teams will be sailing with North Sails 3Di on the one design AC45f.
The Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series is the first stage of competition in the 35th America's Cup in 2017 and begins July 23rd in Portsmouth, England.
Featuring all of the America's Cup teams racing in foiling, one-design AC45 catamarans, the circuit is an early opportunity to put points on the board that carry forward into the next stage of the competition.
Overall ranking position in the Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series determines the starting points score of the teams in the America's Cup Qualifiers in 2017.
